How should peptide samples be shipped for testing?

Ship crimped, unopened vials in rigid secondary packaging with absorbent material sufficient to contain the full liquid volume if a vial fails. Lyophilised material is stable at ambient temperature in transit; reconstituted material must ship cold and be declared as such. Include a printed copy of the order number inside the package.

Receiving matches physical samples to submissions by that order number. A package arriving without one is held until the sender can be identified, which routinely costs more time than the shipping itself.

Customs declarations

Declare contents accurately as research chemical samples for laboratory analysis, with a nominal declared value.

Do not describe samples as pharmaceuticals, supplements, or anything intended for human use. That description is inaccurate for research material and invites regulatory scrutiny that adds weeks. Understating or misdescribing contents is the single most common cause of a shipment being held, and a held shipment cannot be expedited once it is in a customs queue.

Frequently asked questions

Do peptide samples need to ship cold?
Lyophilised peptide is stable at ambient temperature for the duration of normal transit and does not require cold shipping. Reconstituted material in solution does require cold-chain shipping and should be declared as temperature-sensitive so carriers handle it accordingly. If in doubt, ship lyophilised: it is more robust, cheaper to send, and avoids the degradation questions that arise when a cold chain is broken in transit.
